EuRéka gets in touch with people within a real interaction. She communicates with movements, mimics and natural human speech. The holographic lady is a chatbot (chatter robot), controlled with human voice, and interprets the asked questions with a speech recognizing program, which operates independently from the timbre of the speaker.

 

 

The head of the speaking EU Robot, EuRéka is displayed by a 3D beamer. This technology is a development of the HoloEurope Ltd., a device which makes us possible to see the beamed objects floating in the air in 3 dimensions, contrary to the usual 2D scenery of Television. The application of this technology provides numerous possibilities in education, entertainment and show-business, opening a new dimension in the virtual world.

 

 

The knowledge base of the Robot was filled by the developers with EU-topics, so the visitors of the exhibition can get a verbal answer to 1500 questions. Thanks to the natural speech, participants can acquire information about the EU much easier.

The knowledge of EuRéka and the answers to the EU-questions had been aggregated by the Pillar Foundation according to the experiences gained with the www.eu2004.hu information portal. The foundation possesses important achievements in providing information, so the EU Robot proved to be very helpful in answering common questions of the people visiting the exhibition.

The chatbot interprets whole sentences, which can be asked with a microphone. EuRéka looks the correct answer in her knowledge base up. AITIA Design Studio managed to synchronize the lip movements and the spoken words of EuRéka perfectly.

AITIA Design Studio, which was established in 2003 within AITIA International, Inc. created the 3D and graphical design of the EU Robot. This graphical workshop supports the development of chatbots, its 3D technology is outstanding.  The co-workers of the Studio had gained reputation in the field of web design, dtp and multimedia.

 

 

EuRéka is a teaching robot - Avatar, "who" makes the process of learning more interactive and personal. The study fields can be acquired faster and easier from the users.

Developers have had the following starting point as principle: learning by pictures and voice is much faster and more effective - Avatar implements this visual kind of education.

Providing information with a chatbot is not a unilateral instruction, but a real conversation, which is more similar to the situations of everyday life. This raises the efficiency of attaining new acquaintances. Consequently: EuRéka teaches during entertaining and informs chattily.

This multimedia device changes the former rules of education: the novelty of the feeling of interactivity, getting the knack of things by one's own self and learning during chats helps learning becoming an interesting experience.

The knowledge of the chatbot, the study fields can be changed and expanded optionally, so it is possible for the robot to chat with the users about any kind of topics.

 

 

Behind this project hides the research of many years in the fields of speech recognition, artificial intelligence and holographic displaying. No similar solution exists in Hungary at present, which teaches and informs us chattily with a 3D holographic robot.

Joining to the EU gave EuRéka an excellent occasion to introduce "herself" to the public at large in the Millenáris Park.
